Educating children and young people with invisible disabilities like Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia is vital to helping them flourish in life. With that aim in mind, we’re excited to be supporting Gesher Special School’s refurbishment at Pinner, London.

As part of the refurbishment, Gesher is expanding into an all-through school, catering for children aged 4-16 with a range of mild to moderate special educational needs. Our team at Gleeds is providing cost management to the school, working with the architect to get the first phase of refurbishments completed safely and within budget by September.

Co-founders of Gesher, Ali Durban and Sarah Sultman, said in a joint statement: “Our ambition is to build an all-through SEN school with clear, accessible educational pathways, preparing children with the skills and qualifications they need to get jobs and lead independent and meaningful lives. We need as many people as possible to support our Big Build Campaign this weekend and help us deliver a future in which our children and young people can thrive”.

Gesher is an Ofsted Outstanding School in the top 3% of UK special needs schools. To help it grow from a primary school into a secondary school, it has launched a £1.3m crowdfunding campaign, ‘Gesher’s Big Build’, to ensure young people graduate from Gesher with a clear set of outcomes enabling them to lead meaningful lives.

James Garner – Senior Director of Cost Management at Gleeds, who’s supporting the scheme, commented: “The project is close to my heart because my youngest son has ADHD. Gleeds has been involved with Gesher for a while and we are hugely appreciative of the work they are doing on behalf of our children and young people.”

Nicola Herring, Associate Director of Cost Management at Gleeds, added: “Special needs children have long been under-represented and misunderstood by society. They often lack pathways to employment, and with no support network, their mental health is at great risk. The work Gesher is doing is massively important for giving them links between their education and organisations.”

We are proud to support the vision of a school that believes every child deserves to be empowered.
