Extending Amazons’ presence in Asia
With a value of 200 million RMB, Amazon wanted to expand their presence in Asia by setting up an operations centre and headquarters in Shanghai.
With a 12 month construction period and a very tight schedule, Gleeds provided project management services on the two-storey warehouse.
Covering 110,000m², the project was the first of its kind in China and involved replacing formwork with shell mould structure. This piece of technology allows for greater efficiency, better quality and gives more protection to the environment.
Gleeds’ civil engineers trained site workers to install the shell mould structure, offering quality on-site assistance and management. The Amazon Shanghai Operation Centre Project completed on time and won the E-Shang project of year award in 2013.
